When is the Right Time to Start Using Anti-Aging Products?

Most people think that they should start using anti-aging products when they are already fifty years old, when wrinkles, sagging skin, etc. become more and more permanent. However, experts recommend that people start using these products from the age of 20. After all, prevention is better than cure.

Using anti-aging products before signs become fully visible on the skin is an effective way to slow down the aging process and delay its onset. The sooner you start using anti-aging products, the less likely you are to develop fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots on the skin. The American Academy of Dermatologists (AAD) recommends that all adults use a moisturizer and sunscreen every day, two important anti-aging products that help protect the skin from UV rays and keep it soft and supple. Hyaluronic acid is also a great moisturizer loaded with anti-aging benefits, especially if you have a darker complexion and oily skin.

A range of anti-aging creams are available, including options for the skin of the face, neck, hands or the entire body. Most people should start using anti-aging products when they reach the age of 30. You still have a few years left before you start to see visible signs of aging. If you start using effective products before such signs appear, you have the possibility of delaying aging for a while.

Experts agree that skin begins to age around age 20 and recommend that you start the path to prevention early. Claire Chang, a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist of Union Square Laser Dermatology in New York City recommends its main anti-aging product, the revitalizing antioxidant serum, which is made from organic Bulgarian rose and other organic plant extracts, antioxidants and emollients. The advanced anti-aging solution contains retinyl palmitate and 1% retinol, which work together to help rejuvenate skin cells, leading to brighter, firmer, wrinkle-free skin. There are many skincare products that contain active ingredients that help brighten and replenish the skin, without being labeled as anti-aging.

People with dry skin should stay away from oil-based anti-aging products that can irritate the skin. The anti-aging superset is a three-product evening solution that refreshes and restores the skin. In fact, when Hollywood superstar Scarlett Johansson was just 20 years old she stated in an interview: “I already use anti-aging products on my skin”. It is clear that starting to use anti-aging products at an earlier age can help delay aging for a while and prevent wrinkles from appearing prematurely.

However, it is important to remember that everyone's skin is different and it is important to find the right product for your individual needs. We believe most of all in a personalized approach to skin care so we say that you DO start anti-aging prevention early but do NOT limit yourself to selecting treatments designed for women in their 40s and 50s. Anti-aging products benefit the skin in many ways, from preventing the formation of wrinkles to helping reduce dark spots.
